Reach

Darkness can ensnare us inexorably
with its guises many and deceitful
with a grasp domineering a frightful
some wither 'neath its touch whilst others flee
from that which we must face eventually.

Left alone to our own dark devices
to run away in repeated circles
desperately hoping for that miracle
to steal us away in times of crisis
or provide shelter from that which plagues us.

We must stand our ground though and not take flight
confronting our demons courageously
willfully contesting our destinies
side by side we can be each other's light
and side by side we can forge through the night.

It is not alone we're meant to live life
so do not begrudge your heart and your fears
reach out and offer your friendship and tears
unburden your mind and soul of their strife
Unto others open your very life.
