There are so many things you

do not know

You were so happy in that

photo.

Did you know that you would be

changing your plan?

Did you know that studying games

has a name?

You were always the best in school

Did you know that the best was not

cool.

No you do not know.

It’s just that very moment;

Proud of your achievements;

Not wondering where the

learning went.

At that point you strived

To take a test; you didn’t

score five.

You scored four

Oh how great a chore!

You spent a semester

wondering what they count for.

You swore you wouldn’t

take the low class.

But you scored into one

twice.

At that point everything was fun

Everything was free

You were just where you needed

to be.

Not working 7.50

For hours so long

An experience you now

enjoy.

You hung content with the boys

Shouting all day making noise

Conversations all night about games

Now you can’t remember history’s names.

Plotting your stars; such certainty

Education you did not receive for

free

You became well versed in language

not abroad.

Studying programming on crack

Don’t you wish you had your sanity back?

Six days a week

Twelve hour days

Crunch in a rush

Don’t say anything

just hush.

You accepted the award with glee

Wow you’re still writing poetry!

I guess it’s fun looking back

A moving stream that never

turns back.

These are the facts of life.

The future still lies in sight.
