13

Hey, look at my best friend

We’re pals until the very end

That’s what we promised

So where’d you go?

Momma always said she’d love me

She’d hold me tight, and told me to wait and see

I’m looking, I’m still holding on.

But why aren’t you still holding onto me?

Teachers always said they’d teach us something

Gave us practice, gave us a goal

I’m still trying, I’m still striving,

But how come I’m still so dumb?

Cutting was always so wrong

Momma held me and told me no, no, no,

Said I’d regret it before long,

But look at these scars, and there’s no guilt.

Suicide broke my heart,

Shattered me into a million pieces,

Until there was nothing left,

But a girl dead at 13
