This is a chapter that is part of a story I am trying to complete. I've posted this to see if people would be interested in seeing the rest of the story posted as well. Its not the first chapter, its more or less the last or close to it. I just need to figure out what I want to write in between the first chapter and this. So some feedback would be appreciated! Thanks, y'all are the best!

Brief Summary: Emmeline lives in colonial Massachusetts when she meets Sam, a young farmhand who practices “magic”. Shortly before meeting him, she get recurring nightmares about a strange boy she has never met before, and the boy turns out to be Sam. Then he is accused of witchcraft by Emmeline's village and she has foreseen it all in her dreams.

Fate Foreseen

June 1715

Emmeline was running through the dense wilderness of Massachusetts. She just experienced one of her visions, which have been becoming stronger and more vivid since she met Sam. He was a young farmhand in her village, and he was also considered dangerous. He performed rituals and magic that was alien and strange to her fellow villagers with the nature around him. A witch. Wizard. Warlock. He was accused of being a worshiper of Satan. Soon after he arrived at her village, Emmeline began having dreams, nightmares, about the mysterious boy. When she met him, the dreams became more telling. Emmeline learned more about Sam and his beliefs through her dreams, and she realized what he did was not dangerous. As the two became closer, the prophetic nightmares became stronger. So strong, in fact, that Emmeline feared they would come true. Some of them had.

So here she was. It was past midnight and the incandescent moon shone full in the sky, illuminating the earthen ground. Emmeline knew what could happen to her if she was caught. Being in the dark forest, especially at this time of the night and with the recent events, she herself could be accused of witchcraft. Emmeline slowed down by a rippling creek. She knew where she was, having seen it so many times in her dreams. Nearby there was a cave, a little crevasse in the side of a rock cluster. She looked around wildly before spotting it and rushing over to its entrance. A small orange light was flickering softly.

“Sam?” Emmeline whispered as she stepped tentatively into the cave. She had never seen him doing a spell by himself, only the one they performed together weeks before. She knew he didn't like being interrupted during a spell. But this was gravely important.

“Em? What are you doing here? What’s wrong?” Sam questioned, looking up from the small fire circled with eight stones in front of him, the flames dancing on his face and bringing out auburn sheens in his short dark hair. He was startled by her state of dress, or rather, undress. There was no time to get dressed properly, so she was standing in front of him in her white nightgown, dark red hair loose down her back and ice blue eyes bright with fear. Sam asked again, getting up and walking quickly to stand in front of Emmeline.

“Emmeline”, Sam asked again patiently, his dark eyes peering into her light ones. “Tell me, please. What is wrong?”

Emotions overcame her and she threw her arms around his neck. She had seen things that frightened her for a long time.

“Oh, Sam!” Emmeline cried. “Sam, they’re coming! They’re coming for you! I saw it!” He knew about the dreams. He was the one who told her how they worked. And it scared her. She was afraid of being accused of witchcraft if anyone found out. She was also afraid of what the dreams would tell her. She kept herself awake for nights on end, afraid of sleep. Sam told her to embrace the visions, for they wouldn’t stop until they worked their way into fate. And now they had.

Sam held her close, trying to calm her. He was frightened too. Since his family died when he was young, he traveled from village to village searching for work, and he hasn’t been found out until now. It was in this village where the people discovered that he was the only one to never go to the Sunday services at the meetinghouse, and that angered them. A very religious bunch, they are. Emmeline was the first girl, first human, who fully accepted him and his strange practices. Sam never knew how far people would go to get him out, and so far he has been banished from the village. He had been staying in the cave in the forests for a while now. Emmeline would come to see him whenever she could, bringing food and other necessities when she did. Now someone has found out where he was. Did they discover Emmeline too? Sam would never be able to live with himself Emmeline got in danger for being with him.

“How soon will they be here?” Sam asked her, picturing the mob of villagers being led by the Reverend Fletcher.

“Soon enough. They were just gathering everyone together on the common when I left.” Emmeline chocked out between her quiet sobs. “Oh, Sam, I don't want you to leave, but you're not safe here anymore.” She shuddered about the possibility of him being killed and Sam pulled her closer to him. He didn't want to leave her either. And he definitely didn't want to be hung. But Emmeline got an idea.

“I'll come with you”, She said, pulling away slightly to look into his eyes. “I don't want to be here without you.” She saw Sam open his mouth to argue and doubt flashed in his eyes, but she kept persisting. “Sam, I need you. I need you with me. And I daresay you need me too.” She paused again, letting a stray tear fall down her cheek, which Sam gently brushed away with a slightly calloused thumb. Emmeline took a shaky breath and finally whispered, “I love you.”

“I love you too, Em” Sam said softly, but then bit his lip with worry. “It would be dangerous for you to come with me. You are much safer here with your family.” He sounded sad to say it. Emmeline wouldn't give up.

“Please, Sam? I don't want to be here without you. Wouldn't you miss me?” She was using everything in her power to make him change his mind, to make him comply. “Remember the vision I had?” Emmeline looked up at him, her eyes watering. Sam sighed. He hated himself for saying no to her.

“Of course I would miss you. I would miss you every second I'm away from you.” Sam said to her fervently, and then looked away. “And I do remember your vision.”

Her vision. The dream came to her the night she found out who Sam was, what he did. It had startled her and she didn't know what it meant. Emmeline waited on telling Sam, she wasn't sure what he would think of it. But here it is. Its happening. She knew it was meant to come true.

“Then you know its true! You know it!” Emmeline said excitedly. Sam still looked slightly uncomfortable, and that made her even more sure of what he was thinking. He knew what was going to happen in the end, no matter if he liked it or not. So he resigned to their foreseen fate.

“All right then. You're come with me.” He sighed, but then smiled brightly to show he was as happy as Emmeline was to have her with him. She squealed and threw herself into his arms once more, nearly knocking him over with the force of it. He caught her and managed not to fall over as she planted a full kiss on his lips which sent shivers up and down his body. Sam was happy that he can make her happy. They stood in their cave, the soft flames dancing off the walls, just in each other's arms. But Sam realized all to soon that if they don't get moving they will be found. So, regrettably, he broke the kiss. Both of them were rather breathless. Then they heard the yells of the approaching crowd. They had to move. Now. A nervous and excited thrill swept through them.

“Are you sure, Em?” Sam whispered to her. Emmeline stared into his eyes and a small smile crept across her face. He smiled too. “Then let's go”. He went to the mouth of the cave and looked to see if anyone was around before going and taking her by the hand and leading her away.

They escaped through the forest together, hand in hand. Emmeline could faintly hear the shouting of the crowd distantly behind them over the drumming of her own heartbeat. During her very first vision, she was among the mob chasing Sam. Now, she was running with him. Just as her most recent vision had foreseen.

So...what did everyone think? Should I try and finish writing the rest and post it, or should I just not waste my time because it is lame? Sorry if it may not be historically accurate, I'm used to working in 1830's conditions. So please tell me! Please please please! I'll give you a virtual cookie if you review... :)

Thanks for reading!
