She is only five

and her hunched figure betrays her

the little girl I can’t live without

struggles to make the slightest sound

to me

how come she has to be this way

struggling to come see me

what if she dies

before she reaches me

and it is waiting for her

in the dark shadows

I have to be strong

to give my daughter hope

her life is so precious to me

suppose she dies before her birthday

never reaching the age of 10

but staying that sweet little age

the little age of five

There is nothing I can do

and nothing they can do

that can save my little girl

and it is waiting for her

in the dark shadows

They say there is nothing to do

nothing that can save my little girl

she should have been a star

she was the only one I had

why does she have to be the one fading

the one

who loses first

they have nothing to give me

will she live long enough

to reach that age of 10

and it is waiting for her

in the dark shadows
