LIFE WITH BLINKERS

- - -

we have faith
because we do not dare
to face the truth

protrayed
stripped to the bone
and angular

we choose to believe
the unsaid
because the reality
is stylishly bare

and that frightens
so that the cold crawls
in under your skin
and makes you shudder

we hide
from the unknown
from the fear of
our balance being
disturbed

we believe the lies
we ourselves
produce

because without blinkers
the world is not as beautiful
men are not as perfect
and the sky not as blue

without the lies
the naked life would
drive us mad

“No species is less humane than the human being.”

A/N: The last line as a quote by Leafless Eve. I write a lot poems about the truth (and I don’t even believe in one real truth!), don’t I? Tell me if it gets too much ;P
