SUNSHINE

Night fell

You fell

The darkness swept through

I was on my own

Tumbling forever in an abyss of pain

We fell

-

Tumbling through the darkness

The nadir nowhere in sight

Into the depths of deepest darkness

I fell so far

I would hit rock bottom

If I could find it

-

That night lasted forever

The darkness overrode

The shadows they controlled

That unceasing status quo

I swore to myself that night

That I’d never let you go

-

I swore to myself that night

Just a whisper in my sleep

It could have been so meaningless

But no

I swore to myself that night

That I’d never let you go

-

Because sunshine

It came into my life

But when the night fell, you fell

You fell through my fingers

And I swore to myself

That I’d never let you go

-

So I’m looking for sunshine

The daylight always comes after night

But when you fell when the night fell

Swore I’d never let you go

The night will never end

Never see sunshine again

-

The clock stopped

I stopped

No more tick tock

The frozen midnight

That time when you fell

On that everlasting night

-

You brought your sunshine

You were surrounded by sunshine

Walking in a prison of light

You poured out your heart

And you paid the price

So you fell

-

There’s a time in life

When the night spills over

It freezes at midnight

And you need some light

That’s me – for sure

And I’m looking for sunshine

-

There’s a difficult time

A wall you can’t get over

I try to climb

But every time I fall

And there’s only one cure

So I’m looking for sunshine

-

Let that arm of light stretch out

And clasp me in its hand

Clasp me so tight

So tight

Just like I swore so vainly to you

It won’t let me go

-

Flame licks me

Gold daubs me

Light strikes me

Glow swamps me

Sunlight strokes me

The sunshine – it came back for me

-

I looked for sunshine

To pull through the time

I struck the goldmine

The mother load

Now I’m fine

Because I found sunshine
