PENTACOST

You can't keep watching the skies
for the fire to fall
wings won't grow to carry you
over the wall
you can't keep waiting for
your life to arrive
just grab what you can
and get out alive

one more night, don't deny me
one more smile, not inside me
one more kiss, won't stop my breath
one more try has been put to the test
one more sigh then you tell me goodbye
one more "I love you" to keep my hopes alive
one more fire to burn me down
one more home is burned to the ground

you keep touching me slightly
afraid to want more
understanding now
what all the shouting was for
but this time
when you turn away
please don't speak
save it for another day

Pray for the fire to fall
