Karnamilarganoi

Chapter 2

Karna was walking about the palace gardens early in the morning. She had a restless sleep; thoughts of marriage and the Heir's Test were stopping her from reaching dreamhood. As she walked on the dirt pathways through the morning fog she could hear whispers as she drew ever closer to her destination.

The palace gardens are basically like a large grove of plants and trees. On the edges of the gardens and a little inwards pathways are marked with pavement. further inward they turn to rubble and then small stones. Few venture deep into the gardens where they would soil their good shoes walking on the dirt. But right in the middle is a marble water fountain and and huge oak trees with holes in them.

She made her way to the fountain and walked up to a small stone cylinder. Karna hummed a little tune and laid down various berries, nuts, and herbs before sitting on the brim of the fountain. Little glitters could be seen in the oak trees' holes and several plants and small trees moved a little. Finally one flower bush changed into a slender woman with a magenta petal dress and light pink skin. Suddenly little fairies and pixies came out of the oak tree holes and several plants changed into sprites.

"You have come again, Princess." The magenta sprite said. Several sprites nodded as the fairies and pixies started taking Karna's gifts back to their homes. The queen sprite, one who took the form of a white rose bush, approached.

She had pale green skin and glittering emerald eyes. Her hair was white with a red tinge to it and her dress was one of white roses and green thorny vines. The sprites and Karna bowed while the fairies and pixies merely dipped their heads in respect.

"Majesty." Karna murmured.

"What wisdom or knowledge have you come to seek, Princess?" The queen asked. Karna stood up.

"I seek advice, Your Highness." she told the queen.

"What can I tell you that your highly trained palace scholars cannot?" The queen asked her.

"You can tell me much more than scholars can. Scholars know mathematics, history, and facts about most things. You, majesty, can tell me the cycles of the earth, the secret things of nature, and can tell me history in a less factual manner." Karna replied, knowing that the queen's question was a test to see if she was worthy of Her Majesty's advice.

"Tell me what you need help in." The queen told the princess as she sat down on apparently air when a sprig of a plant grew up and the flower was her chair.

"You have ruled over the sprites for many a centuries, and without a husband by your side. My mother's Circle is trying to get me wedded off. I need advice on how to convince them I am fit enough a future ruler without a man by my side." Selnatin's princess explained.

"First off, you're not even Heir yet. Until your sixteenth birthday you should use that fact to your defense. Then tell them you need to complete The Test before arranging any marriages. If you complete the test that shall be enough to prove that you can rule without a husband." The queen replied.

"Thank-you Queen Rose. I shall be returning to my palace now. Thank-you ever more for your insightful wisdom." Karna gave a few bows before turning around and making her way through the clearing fog back to the palace.

Karna sunk through the kitchen entrance and up the servants'' stairs to the top hall where she ran quickly into her room. There she took a shower and changed into a semi formal dress that she disliked a little less than the others. Then she practically flew down the hall and down the stairs to the Cloud Stables, she wanted to see her mother leave.

"Mother! Mother, wait." Karna yelled as she saw Queen Bryla mounting onto her Cloud.

"Karna dear, what are you doing up so early?" she asked, dismounting the Cloud. Karna smiled at the handlers and the few nobles that were there before replying to her mother.

"I was talking to Queen Rose." Karna whispered.

"Dear, I've told you plenty of times not to disturb the garden creatures." Bryla scolded lightly.

"But mother, they're my friends." Karna protested before hugging her. "Oh mother, I'm going to miss you so!" She proclaimed a little too loudly, trying to shake off the stares.

"Karnamilarganoi, I'm sorry I'll have to miss your sixteenth birthday. But this is just another Council meeting and I shall be back soon." Bryla replied, catching on to what her daughter was doing. The nobles turned their eyes off the two and started talking with each other.

"Darling, I must be off now." the queen told her. She gave Karna a kiss on the forehead before mounting her Cloud and flying off into the sky.

"Goodbye Mother." Karna whispered. Then she turned around and walked back into the palace. It was going to be a very long day.

So sorry it took so long for me to update! I've been dieing to write about the clouds being like "cars" for a long time. When I was little I used to pretend that some sort of gathering was taking place when all the clouds were moving. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Then PM me or review! Till next time!
