First day at PS111
France took her tray of food
(Salad and a juice box)
Her eyes met Venice's
Venice grinned, France came over
And they were friends
France had soccer training
Venice had band practice
So both said goodbye after school
France invited Venice to come over one time
It was the 11th of November
And they both wished on 11:11
France wished for higher grades
Venice wished for a boyfriend
They could argue about their wishes
And priorities and interests
But they never did
France loved comedies while Venice loved horror
France was a religious catholic while Venice never prayed
They could not have been friends
If not for that first day at PS111
When one looked and the other smiled
Two very different girls, one bubbly, one broody
They really had nothing in common
Except their names being beautiful places
