SEE THROUGH ME

Summery: All she wanted to do is help him find his way back. All she ever did is to love him tenderly. Suddenly he disappeared to let the "proper" one in. Summery in-progress.

--

The truth I can never hide or even run from: I can see them. Yes, honestly, all of them.

Those who are supposed to be not here are still here, waiting for what they called judgment

I really couldn’t let myself understand it.

My sightings. My conversations to them. Their presence here. Their staying. And even their departure.

I do not know how or why I should be the one to carry all of their problems.

I shouldn’t do these things, I’m only 17. I dare not to enter any kind of thing beyond my knowledge or any other.

I decided to stop this non-sense just when I met this child.

--

He’s Erik. A child at the age between 7 or 8. And probably you already knew, he’s a ghost. A very scared ghost.

He neither knows what happened to him nor to his parents when I asked him. I first saw him at the street, he’s about to cross the busy fast lane. But when I’m about to grab him, my hand slipped past him then he turned and stared at me.

We stared at each other. He eventually told me that he thought I didn’t notice him like others did.

Not until I spoke to him.

What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be with your parents at this time?” I asked him as if I didn’t know he’s a ghost. Probably he didn’t know also.

You can see me?” he uttered silently.

--

Yeah. That’s how Erik and I met. At the side of the fast lane.

We’ve been, what, together for at least a year now.

We’ve tried to look for his parents but I guess he’s a real lost soul.

I’ve been asking him if he could remember anything before finding himself there at the street.

He gave me not a sound as an answer and disappeared from my sight.

C’mon, Erik… how are we supposed to find your parents if you’re always like that?” I called out at my room, hoping that my own parents won’t hear me.

After awhile he would show up again. I’ll bring my dessert up to my room and share it to him.

He could eat, I tell you, and he ate a lot. But he says he isn’t hungry, he just wants or loves my father’s caramel tarts. As far as I could tell he’s still a boy and he will remain as one.

He sleeps with me too. He’s truly an angel. An angel in a form of a ghost.

--

“But Sara… Sara, you promised to bring me with you!” he hailed to me pulling my top down. He didn’t let go of my favorite white skirt, too, that I am wearing to get to my date. He stormed my room, scattering all the clothes in my closet and turning every pair of heels and pumps I own.

“Erik, I told you that you need to behave or I really have to leave you behind…” I utter as a whisper to him.

“Does that mean that I can go with you, Sara?” he made those eyes of his as cuddly as puppies again.

“Yes, but now that you create a hurricane in my room…” slowly said giving a hint that he’s the cause of delay.

“I’ll clean your room! Go ahead and finish getting dressed.” He presented getting my hint.

He’s a very good and naughty child. We’ve been like this ever since I met Nicholas. Erik said that he find Nicholas familiar. And that’s why I fond interest in him too. We both hoped for something to gain from Nicholas.

--

“Spencer? Do I look like a detective or something?” Nicholas asked his voice a little in a panic. It gave me a hint he did know something about Erik’s family.

“You know, I met this young lad naming Erik Spencer once and I’m just wondering if he already found his parents or even his relatives…”

“A young lad? Is this the way you, like, saying that I have no more hope for gaining any space in your heart, Sara?” his voice is quite getting louder now.

Oh… This is getting bad. Erik what now? Do you think we need to continue this?

You know, Sara, maybe I’ll just need to see more of this man. I can feel he has something that I am looking for. I don’t know what it is, though.

Alright. Just make it a little sooner to find out cause if you not, I’ll kick his smelly ass off my face!

“Am I right? I knew it! You could’ve made this even better if you just told me earlier…” he began standing up from where he sat.

“Please, Nick. I didn’t mean to be rude and all but Erik’s just a kid… Please, understand. I just want to make sure he returned safely to his family. I’ve lost too much of my family members that I didn’t want others to experience it too…” I’ve been getting used in telling lies nowadays. It’s not good that Erik can hear and witness it but it’s for his sake too.

We stared at each other at first and then he sighed and nodded.

“I’m sorry I overreacted…” he said just as he tried to envelope his hand over mine but thankfully Erik pulled my hand on time even before I reacted.

“Oh…” I just pretended that my napkin fell and I need to pick it up. Nice move, Erik.

No one can touch you as long as they don’t pass through me, Sara.

He’s acting like a brother to me now.

Yes. I laughed at what he said. Thank you, Erik.

No problem, Sara.

--

Sighing, I threw my handbag on my bed and kicked my heels off my aching feet.

“Don’t entertain that man again, Sara! I don’t like him! He’s definitely not in my line!” he shouted, angry in how many times that pervert Nicholas tried to touch me in different parts of my body.

“I told you I can really kick his smelly ass… I bet he won’t show up again. He’ll be hospitalized for sometime and when he recovers he’ll be facing a sexual harassment case. A lot of people in that restaurant witnessed his pervert – ness...” I said jumping on my bed.

“Now I can see why you kept doing those strange kicks and arm throws…” Erik took his usual place at the corner of my bed.

“You know, I feel like going out now… I think I’m going to treat you an ice cream sandwich for protecting me from that pervert asshole…” I sat up looking at him. He gave me a “look” at the last two words I said.

“Sorry… I forgot that you’re still a child…” I looked at him again. This time his smile radiated upon me. He’s such an angel…

“I like that but where can we eat that?” he curiously asked.

I only smiled at him.

--

“This place’s nice…”

“Of course! I personally chose this place for my secret place…”

“But… this is a park…”

“Oh shut up!”

He gave me that “look” again.

“I’m sorry, Erik.”

“No, it’s alright.”

“You can eat your sandwich here. No one will notice a floating ice cream sandwich disappearing little by little…”

He frowned.

I smiled and giggled at his image.

“Stop teasing me, Sara…” he said and took a bite at the sandwich.

It’s been a little while when he finished his sandwich and joined me in staring at the wonderful shapes made by the tree’s shadow above us.

We both fell quiet for sometime. Noon’s going down and the sun is bidding to set. My neck began to stiffen and aching from looking up in a long time. I lowered my head and caught it on my upheld palms. I sighed first and thought:

It’s been quite a long time ever since I did this thing again. It’s so nice I can still feel peace in this place. Now I feel light-headed and it seems that my burdens were left out my mind…

I peeked between my fingers to see if Erik’s still there. But he’s not!

Whoa! Where have he gone to? No… he mustn’t go too far. He might get lost again!

Things poured in my mind again. Terror. Panic. Dismay. My serenity awhile ago faded in an instant.

“Oh SHOOT! Erik?!” I shouted standing up from the bench we used to sit all afternoon.

What am I going to do? He’s lost again… I need to get him back… he’s not for the street… Oh Shoot! What now, Sara? What? C’mon think!

Panic overtook me. Eremiphobia or Isolophobia or what ever kind of fear it is, it’s kind of hard to overcome and it’s cracking me now wide open.

I was going crazy over the sudden disappearance of Erik that I didn’t notice a large dog sniffing me by my foot. He’s been staring and fore sighting me as I panic over Erik. I just jerked in surprise and due to my proven Agrizoophobia I frighten it as it frightens me. I hate it when they took me by surprise because I tend to scream my head-off. And I did, unfortunately.

--MY TERRIBLLY LOUD SCREAM--

I jumped up to the bench where I used to sit to and screamed my head-off.

I only lowered my voice and my scream when a hand jerks me out of my horror.

“Miss…” he called out calmly.

I silence myself and looked back to where the voice came from.

There standing infront of the bench where I stand is a young lad about my age, I guess.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I'm so sorry... I just wanted this one to be brought out that much that I seem to ruin my own plot. I'll try arranging that on the next chapter. Help me on this. Thank you... -
