The Community of the Shifters:
Book three of the Shifter series
Jacoby ran his left paw across the bricks as he walked down the hall, sharpening his claws as well as wiping the blood off them. John and Rodney were following quietly behind him, hiding the bodies as they went. They were nearing the stairs that led to the underground dungeon. Jacoby snorted, they were already underground since the Shifter Communities were all created underneath the human world. The dungeon was just beneath the walkways of their Community.
Jacoby slowed when they reached the stairs and planted himself against the wall, before slowly peering around the corner and down the stairs. Four guards stood sentry at the first landing, with an alarm not far from their station. Scooting away, he turned to the two behind him. “There are four guards and an alarm. How do the two of you want to go?”
“Loud.”
Rodney stated as John said: “Quietly.”
Jacoby chuckled as the two of them stared at each other. Taking a step closer to Rodney, Jacoby withdrew the bowie knife from its sheathe on his hip. “Loud it is.” Turning from them, Jacoby walked back to the stairs. He then tossed the knife down them to embed into the chest of the nearest guard.
