Coronation
All the talk of fairytales and happy-endings is getting to me. It's getting to you, too. I can tell. Your pretty pseudo blue blood is burning red hot and I wonder how much more you can handle, because you, of all people, know there's no such thing as happily-ever-after.
“What do you think of princesses?” You ask.
“Depends,” I say. “I can't stand all the fair damsels in distress Hollywood shoves in our faces. The real thing on the other hand...”
Your stare is cold, like ice. I realize my hand is cold and I want to hold yours. Instead, I hold my breath when you ask, “would you like to be one?”
A princess? Or a damsel in distress?

I'm still waiting for my crown.
