Agent of Death
By R. A. Shadel
Prologue
There was no fog in the early dawn light; the sandy dirt did not permit it. The sun was only a sliver of cobalt on the horizon. Wind blew gently through the sparse lavender grass that grew through the white sand. Black light shown throughout the sky, a sign of a new sun dawning in the strange realm of Evitagen.
Suddenly, a line of aquamarine fire erupted from the ground, scaring off the few white animals that had risen early. The fire formed a gateway to another place and time, showing black and gray ruins if one looked a certain way. Strange creatures stalked through the gateway, followed by others of the same.
Each creature seemed to be made of stones, unpolished emeralds, rubies and other semi-precious stones glinting in the strange light. Each being's eyes were complete circles, mirrored and merciless. Sharp claws extended from their arms, each coated with venom. The huge lumbering creatures slew anything in their way, be it animal or mortal.
A striking figure appeared before them. Dressed in white, the figure's matching hair set off her teal skin magnificently. Her eyes were completely white, her lips a green color. She was Fingalie, the goddess of Negativity.
"You have not been invited. Remove yourselves from my realm immediately!" she screamed at them.
Most of the beings took no notice of her. A few however, came towards her menacingly. They spoke in a strange language that she could not understand — something that had never before happened to her. The creatures surrounded her, cutting her down mercilessly.
One creature raised its head to the sky and screamed an ear-piercing screech of triumph. The others soon followed the example of the first. The realm was theirs.
