Prologue

The moon cast a ghostly light over the small hut, the trees sighed gently even though there seemed to be no breeze; but what was happening in the hut was far more supernatural. A small boy was staring as hard as he could at a vase of flowers, the flowers were three feet in the air and making mellow humming noises.

A small mouse was gently dying in the corner. The small boy laughed excitedly as the mouse flipped on its back and kicked the air in pain.

A broom handle struck the boy on the head, the vase dropped and shattered, the mouse stopped squirming, looked around and scampered away as fast as its little feet could carry it.

“HOW MANY TIMES MUST I TELL YOU NOT TO USE LIFE ENERGY?!” the voice came from a teenage girl wielding the broom.

“Mmsrry…” muttered the boy.

“WHAT?!” shouted the girl.

“I said I’m sorry.” The boy repeated.

“Good,” said the girl, “now go to sleep, we have work to do tomorrow.”
