2:49 AnteMeridian

Scratching
Like a withered stick
Dragging across pavement
An urgent kick
Into my brain
Wonder where my mind went

Aching
Cervical, comical
How I sit here writing
Isn't economical
High fare for sanity
Into my pillow, fighting

Drooping
Wilted, possibly green
Pallor and pale
Waiting to wean
Off of thinking
Time has long felt stale

Closing
Sand-grit eyelids shut
Purple spot, dark green flash
Images begin their strut
A soundless noise brings me back
All my efforts turn to ash

Weeping
Frustrated, defeated
Numbers laughing, dancing
Feel cheated
Seconds don't lie
Wishful narcomancing

Feeling
Too little, too much
Kaleidoscope cognition
Readily release the clutch
Can't cool down
Keys locked in ignition

Driving
Slow but not yet stilled
Cold and hot and hazy
Time will not be killed
Overheating brains
Are driving me right crazy

Typing
Nothing better to do
Record of refracted thought
Bleed from red to blue
Forcing words out awkwardly
And still it's all for naught
