Memories,

They’re just too real

Too haunting

But they’re just memories

They can’t hurt you or touch you,

They’re long gone

But still too real,

They’re just little memories

A sigh,

In the hope of letting go

Of memories that cling,

Too hard,

But it’s just a memory

A nightmare wakes you,

And in lucidity and fright

You recall the terror,

Still so real and stinging,

But it’s just a memory now

You can’t let go,

It’s too hard to give in,

To give up what you’ve always had

You can’t let go,

But it’s just a memory

To lay down,

And simply leave it all,

A figment moving among tall grass,

To be away and escape,

But it’s just a memory

To forgive what we can’t forget,

So painful and fresh in our minds,

Constantly jabbing and hurting,

Once real but now just imaginary,

It’s just a memory

I realize that I can’t run from a memory
