--Prologue--
Her hands stung. She looked at them. Her palms were bright red, and her nails had dug into the flesh, leaving behind crescent marks.
The little girl in front of her had begun crying. Her small face white—all but the large red handprint on her cheek. It still stung, more so than the older woman’s hand did. She stayed silent, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“Why? Why do you have to do this to me? Every time! Every single time!”
Yelling. She couldn’t stop. Why was she attacking her like this? What could she have done to deserve this treatment?
“Every time something in my life goes right—every time something good happens to me—you have to do something to screw it up!”
Another slap. A small cry. More tears.
Her hands stung more, moisture on the palm.
“You can’t do anything right, can you? You can’t just be the good little girl that I raised! Who taught you to be like this? I sure as hell didn’t!” Her hand slid by her cheek, grasping instead the blood red locks of hair and tugging at them. Bluer than blue eyes stared up at her. “Where did my little baby go?” A whisper.
I can’t stop. I’m sorry. My hands... My voice… Please forgive me. Make it stop!
“I-I’m s-sorry… I’m sorry… Mommy I’m s-sorry! A-ah!” More tears.
“Sorry?” A laugh. “Sorry? You think telling me that you’re sorry will do something?” Thrown to the ground. “You aren’t sorry. You were never sorry.” Her dark blue eyes widened, the whites showing around the edges of the iris. The look in her eyes was echoed in the laugh. Hollow. Deadened. Insane.
The girl pulled her legs to her body and stared up at this woman that she called her mother.
“Why… why do you look at me like that?” Snap. She moved forward again. “Why do you look at me that way? Tell me!” Nails dug into skin.
I’m sorry…

So, here's my story. Please leave comments on it, and I hope that things will become more easily understood as the story progresses. And I'm sorry about the summary; it's horrible, and I don't think that it's correct either, but I can only think of describing it like that in 255 characters. (And I have a couple of chapters written after this... I just don't want to upload them all at once.)
