Midnight Moonlight

The girl looked ahead at her enemy with brave eyes. "How are you my pretty?" The
man asked devilishly.
The girl struggled with her ropes and broke free.
"You filthy jerk! Get away from me!" She grabbed his neck but he just stood
there.

The man laughed. "There is no way you can kill me! Give up." He rasped.
The girl let him go as his eyes began to glow red. "NO!! Stop! Not that!" She
yelled.
A giant grin stole across the man's face.
"Never...Underestimate me." He said and raised his arms to his sides.
Light green lights blew out from the palms of his hands...

The green lights hit the ceiling and it shattered to pieces, hitting young Lina
on the head, knocking her out. "HA HA HA!" The evil man, Rouge, laughed.

Slowly, Lina's eyes opened and she saw a lot of red.
She sat up.
Rouge was standing off to the side with an anguished smile on his face.
Lina looked around and saw that all the red was actually...BLOOD.

Lina screamed in horror.
"What is it my pretty? Afraid?" Rouge asked.
Lina nodded and jumped to her feet as the blood...crept...closer...

"No. Stop it." She begged. Rouge laughed machanically.
He walked over to her and grabbed her shoulders. "I am not going to stop because
you are dreaming." He said.
Lina's eyes shot open and she looked around.
A man was sitting on her bed next to her.
"Dad? What...?" She asked.
Her father shook his head.

Lina climbed out of her bed and walked over to the window.
The purple sun was shining as bright as ever.
"Dad, I had a dream." She explained to him about the dream.
"I am afraid to say that you are becoming a certain creature." her father said.
"What kind of creature?" Lina asked.
"A..."

"A what?" Lina asked.
"A Vampire." Her father replied.
"WHAT?" She yelled. Her father nodded.
"I am sorry to say that. But it is true."

"THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING! HOW CAN THIS BE?" Lina yelled.
Her father shook his head.
"You're mother...Before she died...Was a vampire."
Lina quieted.
"Oh." She said softly.
Her father shook his head again.
"It is no problem. Lina, soon, you will need to begin training with your
sister." He said.
"Zade?" Lina asked. her father nodded. "Why her?"

"She is the only one who can help you." father answered
Lina sighed and fell back on her bed.
"That is not fair! I can't stand her." She complained.
Her father nodded, "I know. It will be over before you know it." H whsipered
Lina moaned and sat up.
"Fine. But, when?" She asked.
"Tonight." He answered.
Lina felt like she was going to faint.

Lina got up and walked back over to the lit up window. "Why is the Great Light
purple?" She asked.
Father shrugged. "I am not sure. That is only a mystery to us."

"Come Linattea. We must do pray." father said.
Lina followed him out of the room and into the basement.
Lina climbed into her coffin and her father climbed into his.
"Dear Great Light. Thank you for the gatherings of food and love." Her father
said and she repeated.

"Why do we have to pray to the Great Light?" Lina asked.
Father stepped out of his coffin after her and shook his head.
"I am not sure." He whispered.
Lina walked out of the basement and took a seat at a small table.

"What is for dinner?" Lina asked.
"I am not sure yet. I will make something in a few minutes. So, why were you
taking a nap in the middle of the day?" Father asked.
"I don't know. I was tired when I got home. I just needed some sleep." Lina said
while pulling out a book from the bag next to her chair.

Lina pulled out a pencil and her mind drowned out the sound as her father cooked
dinner as she began to draw...
"What are you drawing, Linattea?" Father asked, sitting a plate of noodles in
front of her.
"Oh nothing." She said simply.
Her father looked over her shoulder and smiled.
"You are very talented, just like your mother." He whispered, placing his hand
on her shoulder.
Lina smiled. "Thanks." She said.
She studied her picture.
The vampire eyes stared up at her with evil dignity...

"So, you have grown an interest in vampires?" Father asked, as he sat across
from her.
Lina sat the pencil down and picked up her fork.
"I guess...So. They seem facinating. I guess being one won't be..." She trailed
off and ate her food.

"Just give it some time. You will learn to like it. Come. Time for read hour."
Father said as he picked up his and her plates and carried them to the sink.
Lina followed him into the study and sat down on a couch.
Father pulled out a book and began to read aloud,
"Vampires are species known specifically for their love of blood..."
Lina slowly began to fell asleep, leaning against her father.
