One reviewer e-mailed me, asking why I was doing this rewrite and the answer is simple. As the author, I was not at all pleased with the original and I wanted to do it over. I wanted to change things and give Vanessa and Lucas the story they deserve. Please read and review. It's ridiculous to see so many hits and to see no one review. Thanks.

She was surprisingly having a fun time with Lucas. His mood had thankfully changed once they had reached the theater, and the pair were now making their way to the movie theater at the other end of the mall.

There was tons of people from her school there, and she could feel people staring at her. It made her feel nervous and self-conscious, and when Lucas saw this, he reached over and took a hold of her hand. He didn't like when she was nervous around him. Sure, he thought it was cute, but Lucas preferred Vanessa to be comfortable around him, to be herself, because that was when he liked her the most.

She looked up at him, and gave him a sweet smile. He tugged her closer to him. She shot him a look, and he couldn't help but smile at her gorgeous green eyes. They were just so beautiful, he felt as though he could stare into them for forever.

Glancing around the movie theater entrance, Lucas could see girls from Vanessa's high school whispering and giggling about the couple. He didn't know why it made Vanessa so nervous, he always liked attention.

“So,” She said, just above a whisper, not wanting people to hear their conversation. “Do you wanna get something to eat?”

He shrugged. He didn't really care, he just wanted to get into the theater and be alone with her. “Just get some popcorn and licorice.” She nodded, turning to the person behind the counter, and began ordering.

Lucas silently thanked God that they were going to see a scary movie. He knew that Vanessa would get scared and he hoped when she did, she'd bury her face in his chest, and then he'd wrap his arms protectively around her and tell her that everything would be okay, that it was just a movie.

Whoa. Why was he thinking like this? This was not the normal Lucas. The normal Lucas would have already fucked the brains out of Vanessa and be over and done with her, but now, now he just wanted to be around her, no matter what they did together.

She smiled as she walked back to where he was standing with licorice, a bag of popcorn and and huge cup of Coke. “I thought we'd share a drink, you know...to save money.” She offered, but he knew full well that that wasn't the reason why she only bought one drink.

He smirked. “Sure, sure.”

She laughed, playfully hitting him in the arm as he opened the bag of licorice and began devouring it. She giggled. “I'm guessing we will be going to get more during the movie, huh?”

He nodded, laughing with already eaten pieces of licorice sticking out of his mouth. Vanessa shook her head and laughed as they began making their way to the theater. She was so deep into focusing on Lucas that when someone behind her tapped her on her shoulder, she jumped in mid-air, gasping.

“I didn't mean to startle you, Vanessa,” the male voice said from behind her. “I just wanted to say hello to one of my best students.”

Vanessa swirled around, staring at the man that had scared her. She let out a slight sigh when she saw it was just her Spanish teacher, Mr. Delgado. “Hi, Mr. D!” She said, grinning. “What brings you here on a Friday night?”

He shrugged. “Here with my girlfriend, we're going to see that chick movie, 27 Dresses, or somethin' like that.” He said, glumly.

Mr. Simon Delgado was Vanessa's favorite teacher. He was always so kind to her, and whenever she had a free period, she'd go to his classroom and listen in as he taught the grade 9 students of her school. Even though she wasn't the best at speaking Spanish, Mr. Delgado still considered Vanessa one of his best students. She was always on time, always tried her hardest on every test, he knew she was serious about her schoolwork and that was what he had liked about her.

Mr. Delgado was young, in his late twenties, and was very good-looking. With his dark hair and dark eyes, every girl noticed him. He was very tanned, and very built. Vanessa had noticed this the day she had walked into him working out in the gym. She had been trying to find Coach Bender, who was also her social studies teacher, for a question on the homework he had given her the day before, and there was Mr. Delgado, half naked, sweaty, and sexy as hell. Vanessa had nearly almost fainted at the sight of him like that. “What are you doing here all alone, Vanessa?” He asked her.

She smiled. “Oh, I'm not alone, Mr. D,” She told him. “I'm, uh, actually on a...” She struggled. She didn't want to call it a date in case Lucas didn't think it was, and she didn't want to say she was just with a friend in case Lucas did think it was a date.

“A date?” Simon finished for her.

“Um, sort of.” She mumbled, looking over at Lucas. He smirked, knowing she was nervous.

“Hey, you're Lucas Grady aren't you?” Simon asked, curiously.

Lucas nodded, tempted to roll his eyes. “Daniel Grady's son, yeah.”

Simon chuckled. “Well I was gonna ask if you were the same Lucas Grady from the pictures in our school's gym, the one who won the last football game of the season a few years back?”

Lucas smiled proudly. “Yeah, that's me.” He grinned, and Vanessa rolled her eyes.

“Well, I don't want to interrupt you're sort of 'date'” Simon smiled. “I'll see you on Monday, Vanessa.” He said, as he turned away.

“He's nice.” Lucas said, after Mr. Delgado was out of earshot.

Vanessa laughed. “You only like him cause he thinks you're a good football player.” She said, as the entered the theater.

“So?” Lucas grinned.

Vanessa didn’t think she’d ever laughed so hard in her life. To her surprise, she had not been scare throughout the whole movie. He had, however, contented himself with giving an absolutely hilarious running commentary throughout – to her infinite amusement and the extreme annoyance of those sitting around them. Not that they’d have dared complained, not once they’d gotten a look at just who was making all the racket.

“Hope I didn’t ruin it for ya…” he said, as they made their way across the parking lot to his beat up car.

“Not at all.” She grinned, “Though I’m not so sure that couple in front would have agreed with that. I had a good time though – how about you? I’m sure that wasn’t exactly your idea of a great movie…”

“It wasn’t so bad and the company made up for it – just the distraction I needed.” He said, managing a smile. “Are you in a hurry back, or…”

“No,” she said, inwardly chastising herself for sounding too eager. “I mean, not really.”

“Wanna go for a drive or something?”

And that was how they ended up parked at the top of a hill, gazing at the twinkling stars above them and the lights of the town below as they lay side by side on the bonnet of the car.

“It’s beautiful up here.” Vanessa sighed.

“Yeah, it’s pretty awesome.” he nodded, “My dad used to take me up here when I was a kind...before he...you know.”

She shot a sympathetic look his way. “I meant what I said you know, Luke, you can always talk to me about what happened with your dad...I'm kind of an expert in that department.”

He chuckled. “Nah, I wouldn't want to bore you with the details,” He lied. He trusted Vanessa, of course, but he wasn't sure if he was ready to talk about his father with her yet. Lucas had given up on his father a long time ago, and he didn't want Vanessa to think of him as someone who didn't care about their parents. Surprisingly, he cared about what she thought, and he didn't want to scare her off by telling her his darkest secrets.

Vanessa nodded, understandingly and scooted closer to him. She loved being near him. He always smelt so fresh and clean. He always looked so handsome, and perfect. Even right there she just wanted to rip his clothes off and start groping him. It was definitely unusual for Vanessa to be thinking this about Lucas, it was unusual for her to be thinking this about anybody, but she couldn't help it. Lucas was everything she wanted, even if he didn't want her back.

He didn't even have to look at her to notice that she had moved closer to him. He could smell the scent of Lavender approaching him, and he knew she was closer than before. He wanted to so desperately hold her in his arms, but he didn't want to get her hopes up.

Lucas Grady working this hard to impress a girl was unethical. People would talk, and even though Lucas couldn't give a rat's ass about what people thought, he knew Vanessa did.

He down at her and smiled. She smiled back, doing something she never would have thought she'd be able to do; she reached over and grabbed a hold of his hand in hers.

She wanted to kiss him so badly at that moment, but she knew she couldn't. She didn't want to ruin what they had right now. She knew Lucas wasn't interested in her, and if she kissed him at that moment, he would probably never talk to her again. It wasn't as much of a want as it was a need. She needed to kiss him, she needed to feel his lips on hers. She needed that tingling feeling inside of her, but she couldn't have it, no matter how much she needed or wanted it.
