Distilled Spirits

By: Gothic Lust

The smooth amber liquid slid down my throat,

Burning its way closer and closer towards my soul.

These distilled spirits now part of my whole,

Fogging my mind with one small blow.

With every sip my mind would buzz,

I had long lost cout of all my cups.

My troubles and woes have now gone astray,

Blurred and grogged by my drunken state.

It was easier to sip, their taste very sweet.

The drink may have burned my throat

But that meant little to me. I continued to drink

Unconsious of my sins these distilled spirits held me in.

I drowned in their taste and intoxicating wiles,

My heart sped faster just to make the next mile.

My speech was slurred, words dying on my tounge,

They were soon forgotten as I kept my fun.

These distilled spirits drowned out my woes,

But they did little to stiffle my blows.
