My life was desolate and bleak until

thy eyes peered into mine with shades of blue.

Repetetive and boring, like a trill,

I needed something solid, something true.

If love required a leap into the night,

my human hesitation would appear.

And then I'd choose the path I knew was right

and step into the dark and face my fear.

A lion's den could stand between us; sharks;

or groups of bears; the snarls of angry beasts.

I'd breathe, then slowly head into the dark -

I'd always try to be with you, at least.

The lions, pouncing, letting out a roar

could not make me turn the way I was before.
