Choices

My mind is set

The choice is made

Blood still flows

The price yet to be paid

You don’t know

He does know

The clock ticks

What knowledge is there to sow?

Tears prick my eyes

Knowing it’s coming to an end

Wishing with all my heart

You will be around the bend

I love you

I love him

Can’t have both—

The ultimate sin

It was my choice,

My decision, my fatal thought

Concrete in my conviction

Against all I was taught

She wants you now

Wants what I have to regain

For it is me who will be hated

Though we must both bear pain

But you have her

And I have him

You will once again put a smile

Where the sadness has been

I’m not going to disappear

Unless that is what you wish

Wax in a candle, love in a heart

What we have, we must nourish

Let not there be tears

Let there not be blood

Please let me look into your eyes

And see more that hatred
