There once lived a girl with hazel eyes
A song in her heart and her head in the skies
And she loved a boy in his chocolate gaze
Their lives together: an intricate maze
Two separate people, alone in the world
Neither could guess how the story would unfurl
The boy was respectful, yet introverted and shy
On the outside, it seemed, no one could ever guess why
But his was a tale that’s both long and hard
And had led to a life of emotional disregard
No tears could be shed from his eyes nor his heart
Nothing could reach him nor kindness impart
Feelings in a bottle, his life at the lid
No one really knew the agony he hid
Except one small girl who knew no pain at all
But was willing to risk everything to catch him if he should fall
She was a loving girl, wise beyond her years
Who kept quiet her longings, her hopes, wishes, and fears
The longing to be loved by that one special boy
The hope for a future of prosperity and joy
The wish to have someone to comfort through and through
The fear of what would happen if her dreams never came true
So she came to love this boy as nearly as herself
And vowed that she would always come if ever he needed help
Yet the boy never knew of this wholesome sacrifice
And always felt like no one cared at all who threw the dice
Oblivious to his best friend, his protector, and his shield
The boy never fully learned the joy that true love can yield
He lost the trust he thought he had in all girls, no matter who
And so the girl was clueless at what exactly she had to do
But she did what she could, what she knew was cliché
She sat down and waited and whispered as she prayed
This boy and this girl were opposite in every single way
And though they rarely speak now, she loves him to this very day
For when the time came for them to part and say goodbye
Both boy and girl wept together, true love falling from their eyes
