Silence is Golden
I hold you in my arms,
as we stand under a
store’s awning.
It gives us protection
from the rain
while I give you
protection from the cold.
Don’t tell me
you’re having a good
time.
Look through my eyes
and smile.
I take off my watch,
attempting to stop time
as winds bellow louder.
It’s no use.
The constraint of hours
weighs down on us
and we say our
reluctant goodbyes.
I’ll give you a call tomorrow.
