An angel fought an endless war -
It did not believe; it fought no more.
Labeled an outcast and hated by all,
For peace, this angel set out to look for.
It did not know, it did not see -
Untill it met humanity.
It knew now what it should be -
and began to search for life's great key.
But the angel was cursed when it left heaven's gate:
For questioning god, for questioning fate.
Filled with fear and fueled by hate,
It wanted revenge: It set out to wait.
It learnt to hide, to hunt its prey,
It learnt to scare all who cared away.
It was free by night, but chained by day -
No longer an angel, It no longer obeyed.
But freedom came with the ultimate price:
The blood of humans, the blood of life.
It now needed to kill to suffice -
It hated itself for its heart of ice.
It threw its anger into its cause:
To protect the humans from God's war.
The right to choose their own laws:
Life without a vampire's jaw.
Other angels joined its plight.
They too learnt to heed its fight -
Leader of the lords of night,
so it earned the holy wrath.
Today on Earth it does guard,
The perfect creature, our trump card.
The fragile balance, although scarred,
Thus far untipped by god's regard.
