Sun-scorched skies

And blackbird wings,

Amber eyes

And dying kings.

--

I sit on the dead beach

Awaiting the morrow,

Too far to reach

I’m drowning in sorrow.

--

Scarlet the sky

And soaking in blood,

Tries to ask why

To the looking-glass mud.

--

Wondering why

And damning the blue,

Saying good-bye

As I’m thinking of you.

--

A far-away voice

A whisper; a tear,

For a long-ago choice

And a long-ago fear.

--

Infinite sorrow

A bronze carousel,

Awaiting the morrow

I whisper farewell.

--

A small black rose

A forgotten grave,

A feeling that froze

On a tangerine wave.

--

Tomorrow is nothing

Nothing today,

Constantly running

And always away.

--

I sink to the sand

And ask to the sky,

My head in my hands

I’m wondering why.

--

The tide coming in

The ominous tide,

Anger will win

A golden fox lied.

--

Cursing today

And awaiting the ‘morrow,

Losing the way

And drowning in sorrow.

--

Sorrow for the lost Lenore?

And I, the raven:

‘Nevermore.’
