Sonnet V
The naked branches stand out from each tree
Majestic giants stand watch o’er the street
Strong, ragged arms collecting snowfall sweet
The nectar of the winter bring forth glee.
When walking ‘long the sidewalk soaring free
And flying on the smooth-faced icy sheet
Sensation brings a feeling made complete
A liberating drug ‘gainst sanity.
While dancing ‘neath the sky and branches bare
Which reach up stretching crooked to the light
A row of empty windows blankly stare
And clusters of excited leaves take flight
Free of the ice into the nipping air
As of my spirit, feelings of delight.
