Lucky Little Girl

What a lucky little girl

Look, Mommy, Juliet got a new pink bike

Yes, honey,

Juliet's a lucky little girl

Oh, look at that little girl

How her precious curls

Bounce when she dances

What is she wearing?

Oh, a new dress that her father bought her

What a nice man.

What a lucky little girl

I wonder where her mother is, though

I haven't seen her around in a while

I think she comes home late

Or, sometimes, she goes out late

Well, atleast she has

That wonderful father.

But,

Well,

Okay, I know it's awfully ridiculous

But I swear that sometimes

I hear her screaming at night

And sometimes I think that I,

Well,

I see shadows sometimes,

And I can't help but realize

How large that other shadow is

And how desperately similar

It looks like her handsome father.

He is probably just comforting her

From her nightmares

And yet...

She seems to have them

Every night.

It's painful to hear those sobs coming from that window

And I just can't help but think...

Oh, how silly of me,

It must be nothing really

There must be a logical explanation

Why the light leaves her eyes

Every time she sees her father

And how she flinches

Every time a boy touches her.

It must be nothing, though,

He is such a nice man,

I'll let it go...
