I felt it once--
Your hand in mine
Your fingers gently
Tracing my lips
I saw it once--
That look in your eye
As you watched me sleep
Without my knowledge
I tasted it once--
The soothing feel
As your tongue parted my lips
Exploring everything in your path
I smelled it once--
That cologne that draped
Across my sheets and stayed
Long after you had disappeared.
I heard it once--
Your moaning call
As you held me tightly
Softly whispering my name
I had all these things once
My five senses alert; awoken
By your presence, once long lost
That had then returned
But just that once
I had those senses
Until you were no longer here
And I was left only with
Their distant memory.
