Holocaust is a word meaning “Death by Fire.” This word brings up horrible memories for its survivors. Although the true figure may never be known, the estimated number of deaths is: eleven million people. Of this number six million were Jewish. 1.5 million children died as well.

In addition to Jews, Hitler targeted homosexuals, communists and other political dissidents, gypsies, Jehovah's witnesses, Protestant and Catholic priests, blacks, the mentally and physically disabled, and others. (WikiAnswers) But with all these ridiculous numbers, the average sixth grader doesn’t know about it at all. “Don’t know, don’t care.” is what Kyle, Coles said when asked about what it was. Many more educated people are completely denying it.

Holocaust deniers contend that for mass murder to have taken place there had to be a 'super weapon.' That super weapon was the gas chamber. The deniers assert that not a single human being was gassed to death by the Nazis(Nizkor). Finally schools are dropping the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils, a Government backed study has revealed. (Dailymail)

Modern holocausts are occurring all over the Middle East in the form of car bombs and suicide bombers. There are children shows in Arab countries that romanticize those actions and say that God wills it.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad once said that he would wipe Israel of the map. Many don’t take him seriously at all. Nobody took Hitler seriously either and look what happened. Schools in Europe have pulled the Holocaust from their curriculum out of fear of ‘offending’ the Muslim population that says it never happened. We always talk about stopping something bad from happening and in a way, we are letting terrorist grip us in fear. That stops us from saying something that could be considered “politically incorrect”. We are creating problems because we are falling into what they want.

This fear is dangerous. If we can’t even say anything when something is wrong, then what’s to say we’ll be able to do anything right? As a wise man once said “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” We are condemning ourselves. We are the last generation to live with Holocaust survivors and we need to learn from them and we’re not using them.

I wrote this eseay resently(yesterday) and wanted to share it!
