This Imperfect World

This world in which we live

This world, which we call home

We all say we know it’s not fair

But do we really know

We will never know

Which people

In this imperfect world

Actually know that this is true

Look at her over there

Perfect smile perfect hair

No worries no fears

Just how she looks to her peers

Now look at her right here

She is living in a world of fear

Kept up crying through the night

Wondering if she’ll live another night

This imperfect world

Is like a battlefield

Full of death

Full of hate

The hate in this place

Makes people wear a mask

To hide their face

Why, is what you ask

But this imperfect world

Is based on lies

No one will know

Why another cries

To let the truth out

Labels you as different

And this imperfect world

Isn’t able to take it

Different isn’t welcome

Different isn’t helped

Different isn’t normal

Normal is loved

This imperfect world’s view of normal

Refers to those people in the world

Who live life without a care

Does this even exist anywhere

The things that are different

In this imperfect world

Are the things that are everywhere

The things that should be normal

But what should be, isn’t

What should happen, doesn’t

What should be known, isn’t

What should be perfect, is imperfect
