School is oppressing. Whatever happened to free will?

Banned

Beaten down into submission

By the mighty blows of legal entities

I sit rotting from the inside out

Shut tight inside this torture shack

Brainwashed by the ‘rush-rush-rush’

Mentality of the hopeless and easily-led

Every little bit of freedom

I manage to grasp within my swollen hands

Is snatched ruthlessly away by

The unknown visages of the so-called

“Leaders-of-our-society”

Since when has education been

Shaped and twisted into a mold

As enforcers of this ignorance

Force our young student souls into

These shallow, mindless holes no

Matter that our endurance may not be

Large enough

Or that our hearts and minds not

Small enough

Because “Individuality is sin”

And they have made themselves our ‘saviors’

Determined to break us down,

But “for-our-own-good” of course, and

To slick us into this ‘perfect’,

Generic-brand image of an ‘American’.

“Don’t worry child, you’ll make your country proud”

But, who said I wanted their acceptance?
