early mo(u)rning words

Somehow I couldn't sleep without being all wrapped up in you.

Snow is falling lightly and I'm a mute figure in the windowframe.

The silence gives me too much room to think

and I may as well be one of those feather-flakes floating in the air.

It's the type of dark that you know is going to fade and leave you lonely.

But if this twilight dawn could last forever. . .

(if we could bend the hands of time)

When the sun touches the sky, I'll be alone again.

Your absence will chill me to the core.

So for now, I crawl back beneath the covers

and fall into a light sleep.
