Awaking Into Dreams

Written By: Lady Alera Van Hexis

They say that you awake to dreams

And float and twirl and twist and fly

Curling and arching until you become

Absolutely nothing

I lay my head down then to wake

Until the arms of time shall shake

And come into my nothingness

To be held in my warm embrace

I wear a mask upon my face

That covers me and begs me sleep

It blankets me and I am once

Again here all my own

The waves of nothing and it all

Will crash upon me till I fall

And still the strand of stretching time

Moves far and wide to deep to see

I drift and have no way of waking

Now the skies and sadly breaking

Until I am nothing

But a doll of silver and satin and steel

My broken legs are weak and I

Have nothing but the tender cry

That shall escape my parted lips

Until I am alone in dark

The dress I wear has flowing lace and satin

That shall guard my face

Until I am forever cloaked

Nothing else shall I see

You have forgotten all I was

And am and everything

I ever may be

Because for now

I am broken

Don’t leave me please

I start to beg

Until my mouth is dry and

I am alone

Unable to speak

With no one

But I don’t need you dear

I am more than you will ever be

And I am not broken

I am free and whole

As I awaken into dreams

And turn my head away from you

Because within my tattered dreams

The heart of life and love is true

So I awaken

And I prove

That I am whole

Awakening to dreams
