Mirror

Written By: Lady Alera Van Hexis

My mirror holds a picture that no one will ever see

No other beauty of the land is quite as fair as me

No earthly creature could compare to one so fair and fine

Because the image that is there is simply put just mine

If others look into the mirror

I am sorry then to tell

That they would never see an image

Quite as fair to parallel

I know you say that your own mirror

Tells you just the same good thing

But that must be an awful lie

Because I am the only queen

It cannot be

I will not have it

No one is as fair as I

Tell me that your mirrors false

Before then not a tear I’ll cry

You tell a lie!

You tell a lie!

Your mirror will be smashed at once

My mirror is now questioning

The things it’s said

You tell a lie!

I have a mirror that I watch

And if it falters just a word

I break all of the other mirrors

They’ll not even once be heard

I have a mirror that will tell me

I am fairest in the land

But others will not once reach out

To hold my slowly aging hand

I am the fairest in the land

And though my hair is long and white

I will have beauty

Immortality

I have a mirror

It says that I am fairest in the land

I breathe in for the final time

And it says

“You are beautiful”

It tells me lies

But in that moment

I am beautiful
