I’m in love with a Vampire III

Double edged sword

Written By: The Teller of Stories

Chapter 1

A/N: Enjoy

It had been a month sense TJ’s funeral; I guess you could have said that I was feeling better then, even though it took a while I had started smiling again about three weeks after the funeral itself. The whole month had been a flurry of activity; I just have to tell you about it before I get on with the story.

Samuel had been by my parent’s home every cloudy day sense then and he would have dinner with us every night so it wasn’t just my parents pestering me about who my friends really were. At this point my father liked him okay, they would be like normal guys, my father got him into football, he didn’t understand it very well and would come and whisper to me that my father was crazy but they got along okay. My mother, well, we guessed that TJ’s death and Melissa’s revealing that her ‘depressions’ in the past were really schemes to get a few hours extra sleep really hit her hard, either she wasn’t home or she was in her room crying about how much of a horrible person she was. I can’t say that I blamed her, even now after all of this time, I still cried at night just like her.

I just had an advantage, all I had to do was whisper Samuel’s name and he would be by my side in an instant. He says that vampires can hear their mates all the time and it didn’t matter how far away they were because of the bond that’s formed between them because vampires mate for life, or in their case afterlife. I really thought that he was sitting in his new car around the corner listening for me to call him to me.

Samuel had gained a lot of new things from accepting the promotion to commanding officer of VCCTC, like a brand new, free car of his choice, he loved it but instead of getting one of the new models he got this really cool, really comfortable vintage corvette, it was black with navy blue interior, but for a corvette it was really roomy inside.

He also got a lot of time off, and when there wasn’t a suspect loose in the area he had free time, though he stuck close to Melissa and John a lot just in case.

The base was quickly moved to my aunt’s place now that it was considered abandoned. My parents wanted to buy it for me but I convinced them that it was abandoned nor for sale so all I needed to do was move in, they didn’t care as long as I wasn’t living at home any more but was still close enough to visit on the holidays. What they didn’t know was that Samuel, Melissa, and John were living there as well, so I would be able to spend most of my days with them, accept when they were on missions, which wasn’t very often so I have heard.

Melissa is ten and a half weeks pregnant, she feels the twins move all the time, at the time she was starting to get worried that they would end up being more vampire than human, she was beginning to thirst for blood. Though I think she enjoys not getting sick so much.

John seems to be more on edge now because of Melissa having more and more nose bleeds as time goes on. My father recommended that she go see my mother’s old prenatal doctor for a check-up, he said that it was normal, but that didn’t help John’s nerves any.

I was standing in the bathroom over the sink, I was staring into the mirror again, I wasn’t really staring at myself I was more of like zoning out, there was a box to my right sitting on the counter will all of my things from the medicine cabinet. I was going through TJ’s things to take with me, the last thing that I remembered thinking about was that I should just take the whole box with me. My hair was tied up in a messy ponytail I had a tank top on, across the front it read how it didn’t matter how many times they, meaning guys, said that they were reading my shirt I still knew that they were really only looking at my boobs. My jeans were bothering me, they were tight on me and they made me feel fat. “Love you’re not fat.” Samuel said as he walked in, resting a hand on my waist kissing my cheek and neck gently. I smiled and looked at him over my shoulder kissing his lips for a quick second. He glared at me. “Why must you tease me like that?” He turned me around in his arms staying just inches from my face. “You know that I hate being teased.” He eyed my lips closely, as if longing for them

I smiled and patted my hand to his cheek. “Well dear if you want a kiss that bad you’ll have to work for it, either help me pack or go sit and watch the game with my father downstairs.” I turned back to the box of TJ’s things.

I could see Samuel glaring at me through the mirror. “What?” I asked. “I thought you sort of liked football.” I picked up a few of my brother’s decorations and moved them into my box.

Samuel’s glare didn’t move. “Its not that I don’t like it, but watching it all the time is boring, and I hardly understand it, I come from a time where that game was played by bored little boys and was considered foolish, and now you can see grown men tackling,” He held up his fingers showing quotation marks around the word ‘tackling’ “each other, over a stupid ball and sadly enough thousands more cheering for it as if it were the gladiatorial games!” I had never seen Samuel like that, he did seem more uptight then normal, him instantly trying to romance me was the first clue and now his sudden change in mood just because of the fact that I mentioned the football game?

I turned looking him in the face. “Samuel honey, what’s wrong?” He crossed his arms and looked away, then got up to walk into my room, it was apparent that he was trying to dodge the question. “Sam, love,” I got hold of his hand stopping him, pulling on it to make him look at me. “Love what’s wrong?”

He smiled at me and held me around my waist and looked me in the eyes. “Nothing, I’m just happy that your feeling better.” That was a lie

“You’re lying.”

“No I’m not.”

“Yes you are, your eyes say that something is bothering you, please tell me.” I held his hand to my chest. “Please Samuel, I love you, you can tell me anything,”

His look was unreadable. “But can you handle it?” He pulled his hand away from mine, I struggled to recapture it. “Ana, pack, I’m going to watch the game, I’ll be back up here in when the game is over.” With that he left my room leaving me with a hurt I haven’t felt in a long time, but I knew it, I knew it well, flashes of memories went by; Jeremy knocking on the window, his face contorted in a look of thirst. A voice close to my ear, whispering, ‘marry me or die’ I couldn’t help but jump, but Samuel hadn’t returned, he wasn’t there to comfort me.
