Time Shifts

Throw your head up and see
Things aren’t what they used to be
While you were asleep
Everything has changed
Maybe for the better maybe for the worse

I see you standing there confused
Too afraid of being used
By the digital hands holding you
And the machinery still binding you
Your believes, once right, are now completely wrong

Dying words and dying birds
Falling to the ground
What we used to know
Is now nowhere to be found

You look into their empty eyes
And find out where the bias lies
But the eyes are filled with emptiness
Everything is motionless
You grumble as you sit down to read your ever holy book

Our lives are being dominated
By screens in the dark
Where we once grew up there is
A new industrial park
