So perhaps the world is not so bad
He says looking at me
I smile and think, but I don't agree
Because its just not fair
These things in life
The war, the violence, the never ending strife
And as I say this, he shakes his head
And tells me to think of the positive instead
But how is that possible in a world so dark?
But I don't say these things
I smile instead
And let these thoughts float out of my head
The she tells me all the things I already know
The unfairness of life
Of terror, and death, and blood stained snow
I shake my head, I don't agree
If there is so much horror, so much grief
Shouldn't there be just a little hope no matter how brief?
But I don't say these things
I smile instead
And hope she understands the thoughts in my head
She knows life's not fair
He knows it too
And it's a sad fact that they both know the truth
And what they both think is also true
About the unhappiness and strife
But there is hope, in a single ray of light
So now they see, that they both can't agree
But perhaps they will later on
When they realize the hope of the world, has been with them all along.
