Distant People
Jonathan Garrett

Desert winds blow
And the cities rise.
Far above the jungle,
Hear the whale cries.

Can you hear it?

In the distant land,
Are the distant people
Living their distant lives
With other distant people

Can you smell it?

Ocean waves crash
Against sunny meadows.
Can you see the moonbeams
That he gently throws?

Can you feel it?

Rolling down the skyway
Over the quiet crowd.
In the end it really
Is just way too loud.

Can you touch it?

Downward, distant people,
Down to the roiling skies.
Can you see it
With your eyes?

Can you?
