Aidan was sitting on the massive sofa in the living room next to her giant black wolf Benji, watching the evening news- something about people disappearing for weeks and then turning up dead and totally drained of all blood. When she heard the deadbolt on the door shift, she didn’t bother to look up for she already knew who it was.
“Honey, I’m home.” The familiar voice teased as Matt appeared in the doorway of the living room with what looked like enough takeout for ten. Aidan looked up and smiled.
“Aw…Takeout? I could have made myself something.” She said following Matt into the kitchen, and she watched as he pulled all of the boxes out of the bags, and sat them on Matt’s ancient table.
“That’s true, but then I wouldn’t get my rewards.” He said grinning.
“Thank you.” She reached for him, and he took her hands and moved toward her. She stretched up on her toes and her lips met his. He instantly began closing the distance between their bodies, by moving his arms around her waist and pulling her toward him. They broke apart when the lack of oxygen became a bit of a problem for Aidan, and she rested her face against his chest, her arms still wrapped around him. “I love you.” She whispered.
“I love you too.” He said before kissing the top of her head. She was totally aware of the fact that Matt was still waiting for her to change her mind about him, and choose a normal life with someone human, but she never even so much as complained.
She released him and turned toward the various food containers on the table. He let her go for a moment, but then she felt his cool fingers brush her long red hair away, and pull the collar of her shirt back, and then his lips touched her bare shoulder and she shivered. He chuckled and his breath tickled her skin.
“No!” She hissed, turning to face him.
“Hmm?” He hummed as he took advantage of her position and planted a kiss on the hollow under her ear.
“But the food…” She muttered, her mind was scattering all of her once coherent thoughts.
“It’ll be there later.” He said before catching her lips.
“Easy for you to say, you don’t need it to survive!” She said moving a few feet back from him; it was easier to hold her argument that way.
“Actually, that’s not entirely true.” He stated, “Since you technically belong to me, you could live a very long time without it, it would just be a bit uncomfortable.”
“Yeah, well I won’t be very fun if I’m uncomfortable though, will I?” She argued back.
“No, I don’t suppose you would be.” He said with a dramatic sigh, and a smirk plastered to his face. She scowled before returning her attention to the food, and that was the end of this discussion. Just then they heard the front door opened, and the couple heard Stephanie and Tim entering the apartment with their daughter Abigail.
“Aidan, Matt, are y’all home?” Stephanie called from the living room.
“I should learn how to lock the door..” Matt muttered before the trio appeared in the kitchen. Aidan laughed.
“Yeah, we’re here. You guys hungry?” She asked taking the small child into her arms, Matt watching her intently. Abigail absolutely adored Matt, no one understood why though.
“Starving.” Stephanie said.
“Damn.” Tim said taking in the various food containers on the table. “It looks like you’re going to feed an army.” He finished Matt snorted.
“That’s all Aidan’s. She could finish all of that in one setting and still be hungry afterward.” Aidan scowled at her lover, and he shrugged. “It’s true.”
They all sat down at the kitchen table, Matt politely excused himself saying that he had left some papers in his office at work and left the humans to devour the food. Everyone dug into the food and were soon consumed by conversation.
“So how’s the married life treating you?” Tim asked. Aidan beamed.
“Well three months in, I must say it’s amazing. I don’t ever remember being so happy.” She said, before asking, “So how does it feel to be a parent?”
“I absolutely love it.” Stephanie said. “You’ll never understand the meaning of love until you have a baby.” She explained, and Tim nodded in agreement.
After they ate they sat around the table passing Abby around to one another. Aidan finished putting away the remaining food containers and setting the dirty dishes in the kitchen sink, just as Matt walked into the kitchen.
“Wow, good timing.” Aidan said as he lightly kissed her cheek. He shrugged, and moved to sit at the table with the others, immediately gaining Abby from Stephanie. “Did you eat?” Aidan asked him glancing at Stephanie and Tim.
“Yes.” He nodded and they all visited for a while.
Aidan was hand washing the dirty dishes -after Stephanie, Tim, and Abby left- when two familiar hands reached out from behind her and began playing with her belt buckle, and Matt’s lips lightly followed a blue vein in her neck making her shiver.
“Are you still too busy?” He breathed nibbling her ear as she rested her head against his chest making it easier for him to kiss her neck.
“I have to finish the dishes…” she whispered dizzily, leaning against Matt with all of her weight. He was winning the war before it even began.
“I’ll finish them for you later.” He said, running his nose from her shoulder, along the curve of her neck, and to her ear, breathing in her scent. She trembled beneath his touch, and held on to the kitchen counter so tight that her knuckles were turning white. She was so caught up in the feel of him there against her, that she barely noticed the pressure on her neck as his fangs broke through the sensitive skin of her neck. She relaxed into him as her blood left her veins.
Matt didn't know why, but he was always taken by surprise at the power that was stored inside of Aidan. He welcomed the tingling sensation that came when he took her blood. It was like the indescribable high you get your very first time you smoke pot, only over and over again. And it had the same effect on Aidan's end. Now when a vampire feeds, he or she can pick up on the thoughts and feelings of the donor. Matt was always amazed by the unconditional love that Aidan felt for him. He had no idea what it could be about him that she could love; after all he was a monster.
After a few moments he released her neck and she took a deep breath. She looked up at him, and he grinned wickedly before leaning down and licking the last traces of blood from her neck. She shivered, as he reached down and undid her belt buckle, and his hand slipped beneath the material of her jeans. Aidan didn't know how, probably one of Matt's cool vampire tricks, but she and Matt were now in his bedroom and the clothes were coming off.
Several hours later the two lay close together exhausted. Matt was half asleep, listening to the steady rhythm of Aidan's heart. Aidan on the other hand was wide awake, and every so often she would plant a kiss somewhere on Matt, and make him squirm. She had been laying there quietly for a while thinking about nothing in particular, when she gently pressed her lips to his, and he groaned.
"Aidan, you're going to kill me.." He whined playfully.
"You're an immortal vampire, and you're worried about little ol' me killing you?" Aidan scoffed.
"Ah, but you're my one and only weakness. Especially when your naked." As he said this he moved on top of her pressing their bodies together, and then he traced her lips with his tongue, he meant to pull away, but not before Aidan pressed her lips to his, her fingers running through his hair, and her legs wrapping around his waist. "Oh God...you are going to kill me..." He said, his body beneath her stiffening, and she began to move away from him. "What are you doing?!" He asked anxiously.
"Well..you don't want me to mess with you, so I'm going to go take a long, hot bath..." She said making sure untangled herself from him as slowly as possible. Humor in her eyes. Matt looked almost angry as her foot gently brushed his sensitive skin.
"The hell you are!" He growled, she only smirked and continued making her way out of the bed. He glared at her as she escaped the covers, and her body was fully visible. "Come back here...Now." He ordered trying to maintain control, but she just kept walking toward the bedroom door. Ignoring his condition, he jumped out of the bed, ran over to Aidan, spun her around, and pinned her to the bedroom wall, all within a split second. Aidan looked up into his eyes cooly, an unspoken challenge to do something, and he returned the gaze just before thrusting himself back into her, starting the process all over again.
It was just after noon two days later when Aidan and Matt finally emerged from Matt's bedroom both in great need of food. Aidan headed toward the kitchen with Matt following behind, and he watched as she dug through his almost bare cabinets, and she turned trying to find food.
"What are you looking for exactly?" Matt asked, he didn't understand how someone so small could be so hungry. She opened the refridgerator and found the left-over takeout.
"Apparently this." She said, popping a cold sushi roll into her mouth. Matt looked utterly disgusted.
"That shit has been in there for two days." He said sounding as disgusted as he looked.
"Well maybe if a vampire would keep human food around the house for his wife, I wouldn't have to eat two day old takeout." She said seriously, before a smile broke through. Matt rolled his eyes.
"You love that crap and I know it." He replied, and she shrugged.
"Tastes better with age..." She started, and then she giggled to herself. "Just like you."
"Remind me to never deprive you of food again." He said shaking his head. She looked confused.
"Why?"
"Because you're killing me with your corny side." He said, grinning as she chucked an eggroll at him.
