Darkened regrets

And worst intentions

Cause me to turn,

Watch my back

For it is unguarded

Resentful eyes

Make me self-conscious,

As I rush from the crowds

And into the shadows

Where they glare, and stare

And treat me like the worst

But it is unknown

Why they envy me so

My life, my experiences

Nothing to be proud of

But you come to the dark

Finding me alone

You sweep me off my feet

And take my hand in yours

I suddenly remember

Why they look at us with envy

And why they roll their eyes

But I do not care the least bit

Because I’ve got you, my love

You cure me when I’m not sick

And stop all my fears

From coming true

You make me happy

When I’m the saddest

You make me happier

When I’m the happiest

Their eyes pierce into our backs

But we ignore them

For nothing matters in this mixed up world

Nothing matters except you and me,

Being the center of jealousy

And being the center of love,

For all to see

No matter what they think.
