I want you to be sorry,
I wish you’d say you’re wrong,
Apologise for hurting me,
For playing me this long.
Tell me that you do want me,
That I’m the one you need,
Say you’ve loved me all this time,
And should have taken heed.
Tell me I don’t have to go,
You’d like it if I’d stay,
And say you’ve been an idiot-
Your pride got in the way.
Then I’ll tell you you’ve hurt me-
That I won’t be hurt again,
And you’ll say that you never would,
Those games are at an end.
You’ll tell me that we’re meant to be,
And I’ll tell you I know,
And you’ll say that’s it- you and me,
You’ll never let me go.
I’ll say it first- ‘I love you’,
You’ll say you feel the same,
And maybe then I’ll tease you,
Ask if that’s another game?
You’ll laugh at me and shush me,
Silence me with a kiss,
Then off into the sunset,
For our lives of newfound bliss.
I want you to be sorry,
I wish you’d say you’re wrong,
But now words- our eyes meet briefly,
Then you walk by- and you’re gone.
