The symbols etched upon the sill
-
The symbols etched upon the sill
Told a tale of wild unimaginable will
It told of lovers so blissfully true
That one died for the other in disregard
Of the words spoken to him,
That his wife was a witch who had cursed him
He bellowed and demanded she be put to the test
Where innocents live to see out the rest
She lived and he died of unimaginable pain
It turns out the man had been cursed instead
He died for her stead, but that cost paid little
She lived for a year before becoming brittle
Her sorrow drowned her close to the tree
Where his body once swung with the leaves
Now both lived happily, free from the curse
Of a witch near by and the words on her sill
That told of their story of romance and will.
