Agnostic Prayer

Dear God,

I know you’re busy

Watching the world die

On your TV set

But if you get a chance

Could you please?

Help clean up this mess.

It was you, who made it

And we

Didn’t mean to break it

But we

Thought you might be getting bored of us.

Our show needs a plot

Filled with love war and pot.

That’s really all we’ve got

After all, you love us

Because we’re everything you’re not.

Build of imperfections

So called heroic flaws

And countless contradiction

And all the time you’re watching us

As we chase our tails.

And I know you’re laughing

Every time we fail.

I can hear you laughing

Every time I fail.

Dear God,

I know it’s stupid

To think that you care

If I cut off all my hair

Or set fire to this chair

Why would you care?

But if you have a moment

To read this list of discontent

Please understand I mean no offense.

I don’t mean to doubt your purpose

I don’t mean to doubt your powers

And I don’t mean to doubt your presence

In a world made of hate sin a greed

How can I believe?

Perfection made such a thing.

Were we made to entertain?

Is it all just a game?

Were we made to self destruct?

Do you still have faith in us?
