This appeared whilst looking at the DVD cover for the adorable movie The Trouble With Angels, with Hayley Mills (although only one of her). Unfortunately, it is less cheerful than the film! This has a tune and accompaniment on mandolin written, because I can't play guitar well enough to write for, yet.

the
trouble with angels is, it seems
that
they lose their wings and haloes as they lose their dreams
they
fall down to earth, but not any farther
sucks
to be them ’cause it only gets harder
angels
fall
angels
fall down
angels
fall
angels
fall down
angels
fall
angels
fall down
to
the ground
crumbling
gray sidewalks slicked with rain
but
grass that’s sprouting through the cracks keeps them sane
it’s
not good intentions that makes them all martyrs
sucks
to be them ’cause it only gets harder
angels
fall
angels
fall down
angels
fall
angels
fall down
angels
fall
angels
fall down
to
the ground
now
their feathered wings are kept clipped and bound
to
keep their patent leather shoes on the ground
but
their pin-striped business suits don’t make them any smarter
sucks
to be them ’cause it only gets harder
sucks to be them ’cause it only gets harder
sucks
to be them
(angels
fall)
’cause
it only gets harder
(angels
fall down)
sucks
to be them
(angels
fall)
’cause
it only gets harder
(angels
fall down)
sucks
to be the-e-em
(angels
fa-a-all)
’cause it only gets harder
