A/N - I sort of rushed it...so bear with it... It was a writing task for English, and I rushed it...as a desperate attempt to get it done...anyhow, reviews are greatly appreciated.
Well, the firecrackers were lit alright, but what about the fireworks? It was the only thing I expected for tonight, being Chinese New Year’s Eve. At this time of the year, every year, I was always taken to watch a fireworks display at a temple, to celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year. I was never used to it being postponed for so long. Impatiently, I balled my fists and started walking on the spot, trying in vain to relieve the tension in my muscles. I was standing here for so long…
A few seconds after the last resounding explosion of the firecrackers, the smoke began to clear, and the twinkling stars in the night sky were visible again.
Yes!Come on, fireworks!
A sliver of colour shot into the sky, and exploded into hundreds of dazzling sparks.
Brilliant.
As more and more splashes of colour squeezed themselves into the sky, the people around me chattered excitedly. They gasped, but were drowned out by the thunderous roars of each explosion of rainbow. The smoke was so intense it even mingled with the overwhelming incense.
Golden shards snaked into the sky, and the high-pitched squeaking noises it emitted made my younger brother cling to me, wide-eyed and speechless with wonder. I could see the lights reflected in his eyes, and smiled.
It was worth it. Although initially, I’d felt grumpy, impatient and sleepy, the highlight of the night came in the end. I should never assume. Even though good things may never last, some good things will come to you in the end.
