Reflections

I look inward while looking out,
At these small flowing waves.
Reflections I saw on the waters,
But my face I did not see.

I caught tomorrow right behind the yesterdays,
Roses in the waters wake.
A golden stream through the surface,
Shining brighter into the night.

All the light was held in the waters,
Even with the sky they became one.
Below waters while above,
And they flow daily with the winds.

Behind me was all black,
So I had only forward to look.
The silhouette can only be traced by the light,
But I will not turn.

There could be no beauty without that which was below,
And those that watched could see.
Stretching over the waves into the night,
The golden shining road.

Some fear the ones above in the day,
But waters are what they bring.
Shadows cast on your day,
And the people take shelter for their hearts.

It is them though that make the sun,
Covering the sky and wake.
And if the day was darkened by their specter,
The golden road leads under their golden light.
