The End Of Dreams

I watched the school fall into the earth,
To the fiery center of the world.
It was the end of an era,
And the beginning of an empire.
Men, replaced by an unquenchable thirst for complacence and ignorance,
No longer desired this education.
Education with all of its schools disappeared in a flood of apathetic hate for knowledge.
It began as a search for wisdom in yourself.
That whatever you felt was, in fact, right.
There was no need to learn,
As thoughts of another had no impact upon your own.
Why try? Why learn? Why struggle against the world?
You were taught to become a god by your peers,
And that is what you became.
Not a god of this world,
Nor a god of dreams and wealth.
But a god of ignorance and hate.
