The Race

You ran a race,
To end the suffering of mankind.
There was no winner,
And there was no loser.
Except the ones that were left behind.
You finished the race in record time,
And you could see the glorious final line.
All but the ones that were left behind.
It was not a show of popularity,
Of vanity and looks.
And those were the people that were left behind.
It was not a show of strength,
Of brawn and mass.
But still more of us were left behind.
But it was a show of will,
To overcome the odds.
We finished the race of life bettering ourselves,
And the world.
We may have left others behind.
But we could not drag them along,
They dropped out at the starting line.
